Catalina Sea Ranch has developed a shellfish nursery for producing year-round supplies of mussel seed at the Southern California Marine Institute (SCMI) located in the Port of Los Angeles.

SCMI has a sophisticated closed filtration seawater system providing the infrastructure for our shellfish nursery operation and selective breeding program. When SCMI moves to AltaSea this new location will provide 28 acres for expanding our shellfish hatchery operation and serve as a processing, packaging and distribution hub for frozen exports.
