This venture supports the goals of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) National Shellfish Initiative, which are to increase commercial shellfish aquaculture while improving ecosystem health. Offshore shellfish cultivation in federal waters of the Southern California Bight is in the public interest for increasing jobs and reducing America’s $10 billion seafood trade deficit.
